Michael Abro
Michael Abro is a Certified Family Court Mediator. She is also trained in Civil Court Mediation, as an attorney Guardian ad Litem, and in Collaborative Law. Michael served on the Board of Directors of the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston, an organization that provides low-cost mediation services to parties in need. She volunteers time mediating family court cases for the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston as well as the Midlands Mediation Center.
Michael is also an adjunct professor of law. She teaches legal ethics as well as continuing legal education seminars and classes on developing professional identity and the connection between identity and wellness. Michael began her legal career practicing law in a firm. Before attending law school, she worked as a family counselor in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and California.
Michael earned a law degree from the Charleston School of Law, an Educational Specialist Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the Honors College at the University of South Carolina. Michael is licensed to practice law in the State Court of South Carolina, the Federal District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has completed the examination portion of the requirement for licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, and the Charleston County Bar Association.
